Choryang: The City on the Stairs · 10

The complete half-day walk

Ep. 10 · Climbing the city of stairs in one go

FitTrip Editor · 2026.07.18

To close the series, the refugee history (Ep. 2), the stairs and Sky Way (Ep. 3), Ibagu-gil (Ep. 4), Chinatown (Ep. 5), the market and soup (Ep. 6), the reclaimed cafés (Ep. 7), the lookouts and night (Ep. 8) and the North Port question (Ep. 9) are woven into one walking route: Busan Station → Chinatown and Texas Street → the old Baekje Hospital → Choryang Market (meal) → the 168 Stairs (or Sky Way) → upper Ibagu-gil and a reclaimed café → the Kim Min-bu and postbox lookouts. An afternoon start, closing with the dusk view, is the answer — and the Sky Way spares your knees on the way down.

This is not a route that collects sights. It climbs, in order, one district’s vertical layers — from the port era at the bottom to the refuge at the top.

Designing the hours

The answer is an afternoon start — an early market meal, the stairs and lanes through the afternoon, and the day closes with Episode 8’s night view at the lookout Estimate. On the way down, the Sky Way spares your knees, free of charge Fact.

On the stairs, thinking of six cities

This destination series began in Euljiro, circled Sydney and London, and arrives on Choryang’s stairs. The six districts share one thing — even at the moment a city changes layers, people are living there. Remember that as you look down on the North Port cranes, and this half day becomes not sightseeing but witnessing Estimate.

FAQ

How long does the route take?
Three to four hours on foot; with the meal, a café and lookout time, the half day fills. Allow margin for the climbs.
Best time of day?
Start in the afternoon: eat early at the market, climb through the afternoon, and close at the lookout with the dusk-to-night view.
What if stamina is a concern?
Reverse the design: ride the Sky Way up and walk down. Buses also reach the hillside road — choose the route that does not strain you.
